One week 'til Christmas

The Sawyer update:
- 16 weeks old today
- met his cousins and Aunt Becky last night for the first time
- excited that Christmas is only a week away

With so many family in New England, Sawyer decided that he is a Patriots fan.

Heading home

We flew up to Maine for my cousin Sarah's wedding this weekend. Everyone had a good time, and Sawyer enjoyed seeing my relatives.

Checkout is in 15 minutes, so we're packing up to go home right now...

We spent Thanksgiving at Becky's parents' house.

Blue Plate Special

Yes, it's a two-for-one day on Sawyer's blog since we were remiss in updating it last week. Nothing extraordinary going on here, just a sweet, happy baby enjoying his mobile.

What you *don't* see

Two hours ago, Sawyer was screaming and driving his dad nuts. Two minutes from now, Sawyer will throw up on his mother's face. Not one of his better mornings - but then, it just goes to show that babies are so darn cute for a reason.

Practice Makes Perfect

Head control can be an elusive accomplishment at times, much like obtaining a non-blurry photo of Sawyer when he's smiling. I think we've all got some work to do!

Sometimes festive, sometimes feisty. . . Sawyer is a baby of many moods.

Okay, so it's not Halloween yet, but Sawyer was feeling festive today and decided to wear his costume early. It was a big hit with all the ladies at the park.

Now that Sawyer has made an appearance during my dad's sermon (via PowerPoint), I thought maybe it was about time my dad made an appearance on Sawyer's blog.

So maybe Sawyer doesn't take after his dad quite as much as I thought - these days he is more of the early to bed/early to rise type like moi.

10 little piggies

It is not easy getting a picture of a baby's feet - they are almost always in motion. Likewise for making footprints and getting the orange ink we used for the footprint off of Sawyer's foot.

Awake

I'd say Sawyer's sleep schedule is pretty close to ours. He's (mostly) awake during the day and (mostly) asleep at night. I hope he continues to keep his nights and days straight.

How big?

He'll be three weeks old tomorrow. He's still small enough that I can keep him in my ukulele case for a while.

Bath time

We gave Sawyer his first bath outside the hospital today.

He seemed to like it... mostly.

On pacifiers...

We received this pacifier as a freebie in a new parent package from some parenting classes we took beforehand. We talked about throwing it away because using one seemed like a habit we'd have to break later.

That didn't last long. Pacifiers are very effective!

A week old

The week flew by, but I think we're getting the hang of things.

That is, at least until he figures out how to crawl around...

Like Father, Like Son

So far I think Sawyer takes after his dad - dark hair and eyes, sleepy in the morning, and up late at night.

Rained Out

This is Sawyer’s first visit to Nana and Papa’s house … a little earlier than we had planned. Our morning visit to the pediatrician confirmed that Sawyer is healthy and that his parents don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to leaving the house with a baby. We thought we would have time to get it together before his next appointment, but then, amidst a torrential downpour, the power went out. So it was off to Nana and Papa’s at 9:30 pm, ready or not. Sawyer was definitely not in the mood to travel, but things soon settled down and on Saturday morning Nana got some nice quiet time with the newest member of the family.

The books said not to buy newborn outfits...

He's so tiny, most of the 0-1 month clothes don't fit. My parents had to buy a preemie outfit in the hospital gift shop so we'd have something to take him home in.

Here he is wearing the only other thing that fits him -- the pajamas my mom put on me to take me home from the hospital in 1977.
